With Mac OS X version 10.7 - 10.9, the SoftRAID application performed this modification for you.

You can modify the Apple SATA driver by just installing and using the TRIM Enable.

So, if you want to use TRIM commands on non-Apple branded SSDs, you must modify the Apple SATA driver so that it sends TRIM commands to all SSDs. The Apple SATA driver, which controls most SATA disks, blocks all TRIM commands except ones which are going to Apple branded SSDs. The SoftRAID driver doesn’t talk to the disk hardware directly, but rather sends commands to the Apple (or 3rd party) driver which controls the interface to the disk hardware. When an SSD receives a TRIM command, it erases the block specified by the TRIM command. When a normal rotating disk receives a TRIM command, it just ignores it. This is how SoftRAID has worked since we released version 4.0 over 4 years ago and how it continues to work on Yosemite (Mac OS X 10.10). The SoftRAID driver passes TRIM commands to all disks, regardless of whether they are SSDs or not. Please advise me what I can do if possible, thank you so very much, Have I left any possible Security means out or is this all I can do to protect my iMac and my Personal and Financial records and on line banking apps Is there any thing else more I can do to secure my iMac and me. The Firewall is on and in stealth Mode I allow only a hand full of apps permission to by-pass firewall and checked that all apps must have a signed and authentic signature. Now as for Security I have a hidden wi-fi network using Encrypted Fire Vault that is turned on and set up correct.
#MAC TRIM ENABLER INSTALL#
Uninstall Trim Enabler and restart your OS X and then Purchase it and then down load and Install from your email from Trim Enabler and then Activate it then turn it ON and click disable kext and restart and after restart click it to ON again and restart and you should be ready to go that simple. then i clicked on the different icons to see what I would see and do if needed. NOTE: no pop up saying disable kext signing so I restarted the iMac and this time when Trim Enabler came up after restart it stayed in the ON setting. I downloaded it and Installed Fresh then clicked activate just as i first did with the software that was already installed but without a License then ( any way ) starting fresh I turned the switch to ON the Trim Enabler and a pop up came up to Restart to finish install of Trim Enabler. I decided to uninstall it with its own uninstall software, I did and then reinstalled it from the email I received from them with the Key Code and clicked on the emails install Trim Enabler and went direct to their web site. after 5 reboots and still every time after restart Trim Enabler was in OFF mode. I read to restart 2 times as pre directed on Trim Enabler web site page. So after restart it came back to Trim Enabler but is was in the OFF mode again so I restarted my iMac again.

I clicked to move over to the ON mode and no pop up came up saying to disable kext but a pop up came up to restart the iMac to Finish the set up so I restarted again. after restart it came back to the Trim Enabler but I noticed it was now in the OFF mode. I clicked the switch to ON and a pop up came up restart now to disable kext signing so I restarted the iMac. I Activated it with the Key Code and email address i used to buy it. Thank you Whywutt, I purchased Trim Enabler License it was already installed on my iMac. Can you help advise me more and help me under stand I want faster but it must work with Apple ID and any and all Upgrades and apps, thank you. I set up the iMac with my Admin/My Account but had to set up a new guest account and so I set up a Standard account for me with no ADMIN rights to protect my iMac only use admin to down load and install apps but here lately I have been entering the admin user name and password to down load and install apps using my Standard account seems safer Well I hope it is. I already made a mistake in activating my Guest log on after installing OS X 10.10 i some how changed a value when setting it up and do it will not go on line shows a sign contact apple support to active this user.
#MAC TRIM ENABLER UPDATE#
But if I use TRIM Enabler will i lose my access to The App Store and iTunes and will my iMac become a piece of junk and of no use if i cannot update HD to New OS X Operating Systems and apps from previous purchases or new purchases thur Apple ID with out buying a new SSD or iMac with these options applied or calling apple phone support care which is limited phone care I do not think this would be covered or do able with Apple limited phone Support. Thank you, my Apple Care ran out mid 2014 so I upgraded to 12GB mem from 4GB and installed a SSD 240GB.
